Banking candidates often describe reasoning puzzles as something you either see or do not. They are a method: fix the definite statements first, build the grid, and never guess an uncertain placement.
A puzzle that cannot be solved in four minutes should be abandoned. Teaching candidates to leave one is harder than teaching them to solve it.
